Timothy Chin-tien Yang (traditional Chinese: 楊進添; simplified Chinese: 杨进添; pinyin: Yáng Jìntiān; Wade–Giles: Yáng Chìng-tiēn; born July 1, 1942[1]) is a Taiwanese diplomat, and the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China serving under President Ma Ying-Jeou.
Yang was born in Erlin, Changhua, and earned his bachelors degree in diplomacy at the National Chengchi University.
When veteran diplomat Francisco Ou resigned with the Cabinet of Premier Liu Chao-Shiuan in September 2009, President Ma Ying-Jeou named Yang to the post, to serve in the newly formed Cabinet of incoming Premier Wu Den-yih.[2] Prior to becoming Foreign Minister, Yang served as representative to Ireland,[3] Australia,[4] and Indonesia.[5] As Minister of Foreign Affairs he also holds the position of Vice-Chairman within the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy.
